The density formula is yet another method to calculate the object’s weight and volume. It is simple to calculate the weight to volume ratio of an object because it only requires one operation.
This is the formula for density:
=/D=m/v
where:
- D – density;
- M = mass
- v – volume.
Density of water
For most applications it’s sufficient to know that the density of water is 1000 kg/m3. Its density can change according to temperature, similar to other materials. We have an anomaly with water which is an important, but slight, small, but significant, exception. This, along with a lower thermal conductivity of ice, assists in ensuring that the lake’s bottom remain frozen, so that fish will be able to live. This is the same concept that scientists believe has is responsible for the origin of life on Earth. The existence of life would not be possible if the water had not frozen from the bottom.
